What is a drider?

A drider is a fictional creature that combines the upper body of a drow (a dark elf) with the lower body of a spider. This monstrous creation is often depicted as a result of a drow being cursed or punished by their deity, Lolth, the Spider Queen.

Drider are typically found in the Underdark, a vast underground network of caverns and tunnels in fantasy settings like Dungeons & Dragons. They are intelligent and cunning creatures, using their spider-like abilities such as web-spinning and climbing to their advantage in combat.

In terms of appearance, driders have a humanoid torso with long, slender arms and a spider-like abdomen and legs. They are often depicted as fearsome and malevolent beings, with a deep hatred for surface-dwellers and a penchant for cruel and sadistic behavior.

Driders can vary in size and power depending on the specific lore or setting, but they are generally considered to be formidable foes for adventurers to encounter in their explorations of the Underdark.
